The time is right for a new fresh perspective in Greek defence and security affairs. The world is changing and so is the security environment in the Eastern Mediterranean and Balkan regions. Both these regions have traditionally been heavily affiliated culturally with Hellenism rendering modern Greek presence in the area imperative. To clarify this final statemeny, I am not advocating or even suggesting an aggressive all out exodus of Greek military units along its borders, but simply that Greece understands what its interests are, sets clear objectives that will enable it to attain these interests and finally realise that it is possible for it to be a significant and respected player within its ever volatile region. Considering the current economical, social and political obstacles that Greece is experiencing throughout this second decade of the 21st century the aspirations set by the blog may seem daunting. Nevertheless, the world is moving and changing, therefore so must Greece.
